A Horrid Sighting At Void Deck

This was what was left of the stuff toy, Garfield, which horribly beheaded, as you can see from the picture. It was found near the rubbish chute below the block.

Well, I went to search for its head. I found the head some ten metres away from the body. It was laying on the pavement of a jogging track.

Luckily, it was just a stuff toy. Sadly, it is such a cruel thing to do!

Posting A Letter?

Hi, it has been a long time since I last posted. It seems no one else would like to post his or her blog here. If you would like to become a member of the Class Blogger Team, please drop me an e-mail or tag your e-mail address and name on the Tag Board.

Anyway, today, I went to the post office to post a letter. I wanted to buy a postage label from the self-service SAM machine but I forgot how much was the postage for a standard mail. I tried searching for the postage rate at the SAM machine and around the post office but I could not find any information on how much I was supposed to pay! The only postage rate displayed was the non-standard postage rate for those odd-size packages. I remembered the postage rate for local mail was raised last month. I did not want to make a guess for the postage, so I went to queue up at the counter to buy some stamps. I requested for the NVI (Non-Value Indicator) stamps as these stamps do not show the value of each stamp. So, even if the postal agency raised the postage rate again, I could still use those stamps.

Finally, for your information, the postage fee for a standard mail is twenty-five cents (but cannot be more than 20g) currently.

My Son's First Day in School

Hi everybody,

Sorry, nothing to post other than my son's first day in his school.

Actually he went to a playgroup, but it was his first time in a group learning environment.

He was very afraid, and still is very scared, when he was left alone without me. So, I have to be near him every minute and every second! He would look back to check that I was still behind him. :P

Wednesday was his Orientation Day, so no lesson at all. It was the parents and guardians who had to listen to the teacher talking about the things to do and look out for. Also, she mentioned the holidays, the rules and when to pay for this and that. Of course, I had to buy uniforms for him. It was a red shirt with the words "Apply Tree" printed on the front and a pair of red long pants.

On Thursday, he learned about the colour 'RED' and that the apple was red in colour. The teacher played a few songs for them to sing along, but he did not sing at all. He tried to follow them with the clapping. Well, it was his first day. What do you expect? :D

The lesson continued with the teacher showing the children how to hold a crayon and colour the picture of an apple. The children were divided into two groups - one group sat on the chair with a table and started their colouring while the remaining children sat on the floor to play the plastic building blocks. The teacher and her assistant would be at the table helping and making sure the children coloured the apple using a red-coloured crayon properly. Well, my boy did a pretty good job (see photograph) and the teacher allowed him to colour the leaf on the apple green. I must tell you I did not help him with the colouring at all. I just sat behind him. :)

At the end of the day, each of the children got an apple to bring home. Anxiously, he got me to cut the apple and he ate the WHOLE apple the moment he stepped back into the house!

Today is Friday. The teacher refreshed the children's memory by playing the same songs again and talked about the previous day's learning - the colour 'RED' and the apple. This time, the teacher brought in some strawberries to show them. Oh, by the way, the teacher's name is Mdm Rahimah. The assistant teacher is Auntie Lim. The children were taught to take a strawberry and pass to a friend next to them after looking at it. Then, the teacher taught them how to paste small pieces of red-coloured crepe paper on a picture of a strawberry with glue. The children were divided into two groups again. One group would do the pasting on the table while the other group would play wooden building blocks (different from the previous day) on the floor. After that, the teacher would play some songs before dimissing them home. Well, there was no strawberry to bring home this time!

I think next week he will learn the next colour 'YELLOW'. Maybe he will get to bring home something yellow next week. What do you think he will bring back? Anyone would like to guess or give your comments? :D

Happy First Day in School!

Dear Pupils of P4-1(2006),

It's a new year for all of you. I hope everyone is settling down in your new class with some new friends. I heard a few of you went to the wrong class today. :P I also heard that some of you needed to change your class on the first day. I must clarify that the list of class allocation was correct at the time I posted on the blog. I guess the school has changed a bit on the allocation of the classes.

So far, I have heard three of your ex-classmates who have gotten the Good Progress Award for last year. They are:

I hope you can update me if you know anyone else who has received that Award.

Good Progress Award

Dear All,

I heard that some of you have received a letter telling you that you have gotten the Good Progress Award. Congratulations to all that have received the letter. You should be getting your award on the first day of school next year. So far, I only know Joelle got it. I believe there are more people who will receive this award. Don't worry if you did not receive the letter. It just means that you will work harder next year and maybe you will get it the following year.

Whose Jewellery Box?

I stumbled over these jewellery boxes today. I wonder whose are those?
I have kept them in the cabinet outside our classroom. If you are its owner, please collect it from the cabinet. Otherwise, you may not find it anymore next year! You know what I mean? :P

Help the Dying Plants!

Dear Pupils of P4-1,

Remember the vegetables that you have planted before the end of the last school term? I have been watering the plants for the past few weeks, but over the weekend, the plants wither, as you can see from the pictures above.

Anyone who happens to be in school to buy their books, please help to water the plants. :)

Dear all, I would like to share with you how I have spent my holiday. Well, I went to a place in the West part of Singapore and met some strange characters. Anyone knows where and who I have met? :D Need a clue? I don't think you need as you are so smart!

Sentosa Trip 30 November 2006

Trip to Sentosa!

It was quite a tiring and enjoyable day at Sentosa today. I think the children who went were tired and happy too! Thanks to Mrs Chua who had agreed to volunteer herself to accompany the kids to Sentosa.

After everyone arrived in school, we started our journey to Sentosa. We took the MRT train from Hougang Station and travelled down to Harbour Front Station. When we reached there, we realised that it was raining heavily outside the building we were in. We could not decide where to go first. Some wanted to go to Sentosa straight and one suggested taking the cable car. In the end, we went to the food centre at Im Seah Road. Actually, I was the one who did not eat breakfast. :) Anyway, Hifzhan also did not have his breakfast. He ordered two plain pratas while I bought my fried fish bee hoon. I had ginger tea while the rest ordered other drinks. Shirley actually bought two drinks. I think she must be very thirsty! Ha!

After our meal, we took the Sentosa bus from the bus interchange to Sentosa. It was a short journey though. Surprisingly, the rain stopped as we reached the Arrival Centre in Sentosa. We took the Blue Line Bus to the Imbiah Lookout. There are quite a few attractions there. Of course, the most enjoyable attraction was the Sentosa Luge. Initially, the children were not sure how to operate the luge but they became experts just after one round! They even went for a second round of luge.

After that, we went up to the Carlsberg Sky Tower. It was quite an amazing view from the Sky Tower. The "tower" actually rotates slowly as it moves up to the top! We had the full view of Singapore as the "tower" moved to the top.

Next, we went past the Images of Singapore and headed towards the Siloso Beach on the Blue Line Bus. The journey was long as the bus went to a few other places before arriving at the beach. I got a little worried when the children wanted to venture into the water. I strongly cautioned them not to go any further from the shore. They picked seashells from the shore and played with the sand on the beach.

After we had enough fun, we proceeded to the washroom further down the Siloso Beach, towards the Beach Resort which was undergoing construction. It was about two in the afternoon. Some wanted to take a break and have lunch but some wanted to go cycling. In the end, we skipped the lunch part and went cycling. They had fun cycling here and there. Jasmine, Shizhen and Hifzhan started their first two-wheel cycling experience. I found out that Hifzhan had three years of cycling on four-wheels!

Fortunately, we had good weather throughout the day. It was about 3.30pm when we headed back to school. It was another long journey back! All were tired but definitely happy!

We have our own separate ways

Some of us lost what we have....In our Friendship.....And even what's in us.....Our inspiration....Yet so lonely. But nothing could break our class's friendship up as we are one & united,4-1.

Good Progress from P3 to P4

Dear Pupils of P4-1,

I made a comparison from last year P3-1 to this year P4-1. I noticed most of you actually made some improvement as compared to last year's. What do I mean? You may ask. I looked at your position in the whole P4 this year and compared it with the whole of P3 last year. Here are the people who have done well. Notice that some of them did not do better this year but they are still in the list, while some of them did better at the end of this year but they are not in the list. In summary, if you are in this list, you are doing well or just okay. For those who are not, please WORK HARDER next year!!!

It's the second day of the school holiday today. I hope all of you are enjoying yourself at home or somewhere in the world! Haha!

Anyway, anyone still remembers the plants, or rather the vegetables, that you planted almost three weeks ago? They are growing well. Later, I will go and take some pictures of them and post them on the blog. I have been watering them and taking care of them myself all this while. If you are coming to school for any events or just to buy books, please help to water them when you are here in school. The plants need your attention and care. :) But do remember not to leave any water in the watering can as mosquitoes will breed in there. It will be good to empty the watering can and turn it upside down so that it won't collect any rain water either.
